Nathan's Nursery

Nathan will be here next week! We had intended on just making small changes to the nursery here and there, but then one thing led to another, and I have a revamped room for my little guy. I stuck with the same color palette as my previous nursery, kept the painted ceiling, furniture, and window treatments.

I wish I could take credit for this painted tree, but we left the wall art to a professional! Maybe one day...

I could not find a mobile that coordinated with my bedding. Then I found this blog tutorial for making felt owls and decided to just make my own mobile. I made some changes to the pattern to fit my needs and used the base of my old mobile. I sewed a new canopy and cover for the arm, and I used fabric scraps from the baby bedding for the little owls.  Here's to hoping that Nathan likes the little critters!

For Nathan's name, I bought some whimsy wooden letters from Hobby Lobby and covered them with patterned paper and Mod Podge. The edges are covered with ric rac. I sanded the top between coats of Mod Podge and applied a clear coat to finish.

I saw a similar frame at a baby boutique for $65...I made this for under $15 with an inexpensive frame, two shades of acrylic paint, crackle paint, ribbon, and a piece for the center of the bow.

Samuel and Jack both had a FIT when they realized that I was buying this lamp for Nathan's room -- apparently it is just for girls, as there are too many flowers on it. Sorry, I must not have gotten the memo! :)

That's Kase pretending that he actually likes to paint (his least favorite project!).
Their Mario PJs are now covered with speckles of white paint. I have asked these two guys to please refrain from bringing weapons (light sabers, blasters, guns, swords. etc) into the baby's room until further notice. The same goes for Star Wars figures and pirate ships. Guess I'm just mean like that. :)
All of my nesting projects are officially DONE! I have one week to rest up. I can't wait to meet my precious boy and fill all of my frames with pictures of his sweet face!

3 Babies

Here is my 3 year old "baby" trying to manage the 2 youngest at Christmas. These pictures crack me up! Next Christmas will be much different! I was inspired by and lifted design elements from a layout created by Celeste Smith at Jillibean Soup.

I normally don't created theme-type layouts, but Mario always gets the best of me. :) Samuel chuckled when he saw this. Apparently the "helping flower" is not supposed to come out of the pipe. Well that's how I had it on your cake, buddy!

Laundry Room Makeover

As my husband would say, this is what happens when Pinterest affects your real life. I have been nesting like crazy. I saw an idea on Pinterest about hanging a small shelf above your washing machine. Perfect! That is ALL I wanted...or so I thought. Thankfully, I am married to a handy guy who also likes to gets his hands dirty with fun projects around the house. Somehow, a simple shelf transpired into a total revamp of my little laundry room.

BEFORE: I promise. It wasn't always this bad. Girl Scout's honor!

(I was never a Girl Scout.)

My husband hard at work:
New cabinets and shelf above the washing machine - yay! The wicker basket is for all the mail that used to just pile up on top of my dryer. Now it can just pile up inside the basket until I am ready for it.

This lamp used to be in my nursery. I loved it and didn't want to part with it. I purchased one of those self-adhesive lampshades at Hobby Lobby and some fun fabric and trim. For less than $10, I got a "new" lamp!
A little matching memo board...
Thanks for taking a peek!

He's Got Game

Samuel loved his first season of basketball. Gotta love the Michael Jordan tongue pose. He's got game!

I am such a sucker for 8X10 prints.

My Three Sons

Well wasn't this a cathartic layout to create?!? I have HAD IT with people's rude comments about having a 3rd son - a perfect son, a son that we are thrilled to be having. For a while I just thought that people were well meaning, yet clueless, with their remarks made right in front of my two impressionable boys that I do have. However, I have now concluded that "tupid" (as my 3 year old would say) comments are made by "tupid" people. Now that I am at the end of my pregnancy, it seems that I cannot go anywhere without the comments... "I'm sorry," "I feel for you," "maybe next time," etc. I swear, if I had a quarter for every comment...Any who, this layout is for my three sons, christened with some flowers, butterflies, "lace," and glitz from their girly mom who also ADORES boys! Journaling comes straight from a Facebook status update that I made. :)
