Some Crafty Tidbits...

Not a layout, but some little crafty tidbits from my home.

A "pencil vase" with homemade sugar cookies for Samuel's kindergarten teacher....always looking for a good excuse to make sugar cookies - my favorite!

A literary pumpkin for a school project. Fun!

My Super Heroes...I am a well taken care of lady!

I made a "Super Hero in Training" iron on and belt for Nathan's little Halloween number this year and topped it off with a quick little shiny cape. For the mask, I just cut out a piece of heavier felt with a sticky side, stuck the green fabric on the sticky side, and cut it to match the mask. The little "Super Hero in Training" needed some masculine tights to complete his costume. This was my first time to put tights on a kid, and let me just say, what a pain! The big boys were so proud to "train" their little apprentice all night.

One Month

It feels sooooo good to be playing with paper again! Here's my precious "little nugget" at just one month. *LOVE* these sweet Bella Blvd papers!

Six Months!

My blog officially has dust on it. :( It's been almost SIX months...half a year. It is so hard to believe that's how long it has been since I have scrapbooked or updated my blog. I miss my absolute favorite craft! I have just been so busy with life -- especially with this precious life that entered the world on April 25.

Here is a glimpse of the past few months:
April 25, 2012 - on our way to Methodist Hospital for a scheduled c-section
First kiss for my sweet thing, Nathan Asher!

Samuel and Jack get their first peek at their new brother! Thank God, they really like him!

Heading Home!!!

Nathan at 2 Months

Nathan at 3 Months

Sam turned SIX on June 19. How is that even possible?!?
As promised, I made him a Lego Batman cake. I made the promise before I had Nathan - you know, before the sleep deprivation part happened!

We took Nathan on his 1st beach trip.
Nathan's 1st Fourth!

We celebrated Jack's 4th birthday with a swimming party.
A "Robot" cake for Mr. Jack.

Sam started school. So proud of my little man! I made Kase go back to the the window and take a picture just to make sure that he was okay. He was great and had a fantastic first month of school! This was a huge milestone for all of us.

I'm itching to get back to scrapping. I'll admit that no longer having a nice brick and mortar scrapbook store in my area has really put a kink in my fun! I just loved getting to go and "play" with all of the different papers and embellishments before buying. It's just not the same buying everything online without getting to play first! However, I just placed a large order and am ready to tackle the process of printing five months worth of pictures.  I'm so looking forward to getting back into the swing of things!

Nathan's Nursery

Nathan will be here next week! We had intended on just making small changes to the nursery here and there, but then one thing led to another, and I have a revamped room for my little guy. I stuck with the same color palette as my previous nursery, kept the painted ceiling, furniture, and window treatments.

I wish I could take credit for this painted tree, but we left the wall art to a professional! Maybe one day...

I could not find a mobile that coordinated with my bedding. Then I found this blog tutorial for making felt owls and decided to just make my own mobile. I made some changes to the pattern to fit my needs and used the base of my old mobile. I sewed a new canopy and cover for the arm, and I used fabric scraps from the baby bedding for the little owls.  Here's to hoping that Nathan likes the little critters!

For Nathan's name, I bought some whimsy wooden letters from Hobby Lobby and covered them with patterned paper and Mod Podge. The edges are covered with ric rac. I sanded the top between coats of Mod Podge and applied a clear coat to finish.

I saw a similar frame at a baby boutique for $65...I made this for under $15 with an inexpensive frame, two shades of acrylic paint, crackle paint, ribbon, and a piece for the center of the bow.

Samuel and Jack both had a FIT when they realized that I was buying this lamp for Nathan's room -- apparently it is just for girls, as there are too many flowers on it. Sorry, I must not have gotten the memo! :)

That's Kase pretending that he actually likes to paint (his least favorite project!).
Their Mario PJs are now covered with speckles of white paint. I have asked these two guys to please refrain from bringing weapons (light sabers, blasters, guns, swords. etc) into the baby's room until further notice. The same goes for Star Wars figures and pirate ships. Guess I'm just mean like that. :)
All of my nesting projects are officially DONE! I have one week to rest up. I can't wait to meet my precious boy and fill all of my frames with pictures of his sweet face!
